Presenting research at conferences is often the first step on an early career scientist’s journey as successful networking and peer-learning opportunities can be both formative and inspiring.
Our Shared Ocean has facilitated the attendance of a growing number of SIDS researchers and ECOPS at some of the most critical global fora including COP28, COP29, SIDS4, GSIS, UN Ocean Decade Conference and UN Ocean Conference, providing a platform not only to participate but to speak and to promote research initiatives that benefit their home islands.
Our grants are open to eligible SIDS researchers and practitioners and support participation in conferences, workshops, and training, while fostering professional networks and knowledge exchange related to our themes of Oceans & Climate, Sustainable Blue Economy & Marine Policy & Governance.
Research Conferences and Workshops – present marine research at international events and network with experts.
Training Courses – undertake training that benefits and complements expertise.
Research Visits – from eligible SIDS to visit Ireland (or vice versa) to exchange knowledge, test new technology or methodologies etc. These awards will enable bilateral transfer of knowledge within the marine sector and establish international research networks and leverage marine funding.
